So what are the top 10 pet-friendly cities in America? Depends on who you ask I suppose! Here are three opinions:
- San Diego
It’s always beach weather in San Diego, and this city boasts three off-leash beaches, including the Coronado Dog Beach on Coronado Island close to the very pet-friendly Loews Hotel, where pooches are pampered as much as their pet-parents.
There’s a long list of pet-friendly restaurants in the city, including many trendy places in the downtown Gaslight District that welcome pets in many outdoor sections.
You can take your dog kayaking, surfing or simply rent a boat in the marina and enjoy the smell of the ocean and great views of the skyline.
- Chicago
The windy city boasts lots of excellent pet-friendly hotels in the vicinity of stylish Michigan Avenue.
Be sure to stop by the trendy Tails in the City pet boutique at One East Delaware Place (off Michigan Avenue) and pick up some treats for your dog, or let him try on the latest collars and accessories — this is where Oprah shops for her pooches. And the lakefront is a wonderful place to enjoy a long leisurely walk.
- Seattle
Like all Kimpton Hotels, the Alexis Hotel in downtown Seattle is exceptionally pet friendly and a great location to visit many popular tourist destinations, including the famous Pike Place Market.
Be sure to put on your “To Do List” a visit to Norm’s Eatery and Ale House at 460 N. 36th Street. This popular restaurant is named after a dog and the nightly food special is called the “Doggie Bowl”.
Also be sure to add a trip to Blake Island State Park to your itinerary. This is the ancestral campground of the Suquamish and Duwamish Indian Tribes and believed to be the birthplace of Chief Seattle.Foodies — and that includes your pooch — will enjoy Chinook salmon cooked Northwest Coast Indian-style around an open alder wood fire. You can take a doggie bag for back to the hotel if your cat happens to be traveling with you too.
Must do: Visit the Magnuson Dog Park at 7400 Sand Point Way. It offers pooches nine acres of fun to run and has beach access too.

A large number of restaurants and stores welcome dogs, so be sure to take them out with you when you’re hitting the town and enjoy the sights of this beautiful Texas city with your best four-legged friends.
- Colorado Springs, CO
